Dr. J Island Music
BMI artist Jason Slone (aka "Dr. J") is an island-style singer-songwriter a la Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney, and Zac Brown. "A beach bum with a PhD," Dr. J has spent his life on the water from Key West, FL to Put-in-Bay, OH to his current home in the Savannah/Tybee/Hilton Head area. His simple but well-crafted songs feature clever lyrics and good-time story-telling about life on the beach, the boat, and the water. Dr. J has played the Conch Republic in Key West, the Savannah St. Patrick's Day parade, the main stage at the Traverse City Film Fest, and opened for Aaron Tippin. His songs can be heard on iTunes, Spotify, IHeartRadio, Amazon.com, CD Baby, The Tikipod, Radio Trop Rock, TikiMan Radio, Radio A1A, and Island Time radio shows.
"[Salt in My Soul] is a wonderful collection of songs that run the topical gamut from the fun - 'Salt In My Soul' and my favorite 'She's Hilton Head, I'm Tybee' - all the way to the wonderfully crafted 'Love Stays Strong' - what a great sounding record this one is."
- Tony Arata, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member and writer and composer of Garth Brooks' #1 hit "The Dance," as well as songs by Randy Travis, Bonnie Raitt, Tricia Yearwood, Patty Loveless, Lee Roy Parnell, and Emmylou Harris.
